1. This is a simulation, not a medical device

Brainwave Neurosim (the "Simulator") is an illustrative teaching tool. Every waveform, spectrogram, number and readout it displays is generated by a mathematical model. The Simulator does not acquire, record, measure, monitor or interpret any signal from any person.

The Simulator is not a medical device. It is not registered with, cleared by, or approved by any regulatory authority, including Medsafe (New Zealand), the Therapeutic Goods Administration (Australia), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or any other regulator. It is not intended for use in the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment or alleviation of disease.

2. Never use it for patient care

You must not use the Simulator, or anything it displays, to:

  • diagnose, monitor or treat any patient;
  • determine, titrate or verify any drug or anaesthetic dose;
  • guide, justify or second-guess any clinical decision; or
  • substitute for a real monitor, real clinical data, or the judgement of a qualified clinician.

3. Deliberate simplifications

The Simulator is built to teach concepts, not to predict what a specific patient's EEG will do. In particular:

  • The Patient State Index (PSi) readout is an illustrative surrogate. The real device index is proprietary and is not reproduced here; this value is derived from the Simulator's own model and is not a validated depth-of-anaesthesia index.
  • Epileptiform activity is a stylised teaching model — generalised only, on a fixed schedule. It is not a validated seizure model and should not be used to train or test seizure recognition for clinical purposes.
  • Drug doses are relative steps (Off / Low / Medium / High), not clinical units. Onset behaviour is a simple glide, not pharmacokinetics.
  • Drug interactions follow published directions, but their magnitudes are illustrative teaching values, not patient-specific predictions.
  • The spectrogram is synthesised from the underlying model rather than computed from the displayed trace, and its decibel axis is nominal — it is not a traceable measurement.

4. No warranty and no liability

The Simulator is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, [[LEGAL ENTITY NAME]] accepts no liability for any loss, injury or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the Simulator or its outputs. Your use is also governed by our Terms of Service.
